Candor Electric is proud to have contributed to the transformation of the former St. Cornelius School into the Catalpa Early Learning Center, a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) pre-kindergarten facility located at 5252 N. Long Avenue in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
Designed by KOO LLC and constructed by K.R. Miller Contractors, Inc., this approximately 40,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project reflects a comprehensive modernization of an existing institutional building. The renovation includes full interior reconfiguration, complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system replacement, installation of a new elevator, roof replacement, and extensive exterior accessibility and site improvements. The facility was redeveloped to serve as a dedicated early childhood education hub, aligning with CPS’s broader initiative to expand access to high-quality pre-K environments across Chicago.
